Persistent Marketing is NOT the Same as Repetition

Freedom to Make Changes in Pursuit of Excellence

My “Finish Your Book” course was scheduled for release July 1st 2021 – in my mind at least. It was an ambitious date given all the projects and client work I had on hand, and when you threw in the fact that I received permission to leave Australia on “Compassionate and Business Grounds… as long as I stay away for at least 3 months” and yet another ghostwriting project that hit the NYT Bestseller list – it was never going to happen that quickly. In fact, this course might not have happened at all, if I hadn’t realised that the format I was planning to use to deliver it didn’t really suit my goal or the needs of my target audience and decided to QUIT.

If you’re reading this, you know that I didn’t quit completely.

I just quit using an approach that wasn’t working for me and that I don’t believe will work for my audience. I shifted my deadline to September 1st and kept on working at delivering a course that really will help people use their book to build their business without hiring a ghostwriter.

Thomas Edison Revisited…

Thomas Edison has some great marketing lessons to offer. He was a shameless self-promoter… which is how he was able to access the resources he needed to pursue his transformational experiments.

However, he is also a great example of how we should all approach our goals.

Edison kept testing his hypothesis and systematically changing one element at a time until he finally succeeded in getting a lightbulb (or any other invention) to work. Then he continued testing and tweaking to make it better. He did NOT just keep doing the same experiment over and over and hoping that it might eventually succeed.

What Does This Have to Do With Your Book (or Your Business)?

If you read your book manuscript and feel that it is bland and boring…

If you keep putting off writing your book because you don’t know what to say…

If you have a book, but it isn’t attracting the clients you want (i.e. people who take the desired action)…

If you have invested in another write (or speak) your book program and are dissatisfied with the results…

OR

If you seem to be wasting time, resources, and energy on ineffective social media and other activities

THEN MAYBE… You shouldn’t be doing more of the same.

Perhaps it’s time to experiment and do something a little different!

I’m not (necessarily) talking about throwing everything out and starting from scratch (AKA “throwing out the baby with the bathwater”). Most of the time the best strategy is to persistently change and test one element at a time and observe the results.

Buy “Finish Your Book”: The Writing Guide for Professionals who Want to Stand Out

“Finish Your Book” is designed for professionals who want to write their own books and want to ensure that it is written 100% in their own voice.

Maybe you know that you don’t have the desire or the resources to hire a ghostwriter, yet when you read back what you have written, it simply doesn’t sound like you. Maybe you feel that you are hampered by your lack of:

  • Experience (you’ve never actually written a book before)
  • Confidence (what if no-one likes it or I run out of things to say)
  • Guidance (I want my book to be unique, but I don’t want to re-invent the wheel)
  •
  • The course is designed to give you the tools to create a book that is…
  • Uniquely You!
  • Effective at attracting your ideal clients.
  • Completed and out the door (as long as it sits silently on your computer it’s not generating any ROI).
  • A source of pride and satisfaction.

If any of those goals sound appealing then…
