I was introduced to the work of Clare Graves on Values Levels and how they affect both individuals and society as a whole some years ago and I found them fascinating. It was easy to see how values levels contributed to a greater understanding of the way different societies work, the way businesses operate, and the way individuals think and act, not mention how these factors play out in my family relationships and other social and business interactions.
In 2016, when Adriana James published Values and the Evolution of Consciousness I was delighted at the opportunity to explore this topic further and found it both absorbing and useful enough to place on my list of business books to re-read. Having recently done so, I feel that it is an important enough book to review and recommend to my readers.
N.B. This is not a ‘quick look book’ that you can flip through and be reminded of things you already know. Even a quick glance is likely to provide you with fuel for thought, but this is actually a deeply insightful analysis of the ideas and issues that are driving society today… something every concerned citizen, and most certainly every business owner, needs to understand.
Values Levels, Marketing, and Your Business
How do values levels affect your business and why is this book being reviewed on a copywriter’s website?
This is actually one of the key points I drive home to every one of my clients: direct-response copywriting is not primarily about words, it’s about the ideas and emotions behind them. If you want results then you have to know your audience inside and out!
Values and the Evolution of Consciousness helps you to understand what drives the people around you to make decisions and take action at a macro level. Throughout the book Adriana emphasises that values levels are not another box to put people, on the contrary they provide a way to a more open perspective, rather than a closed perspective.
Future-proofing Your Business and Community
As a business owner, you need to understand the forces that are operating in society today so you can plan for the future. Values levels are a tool to help you do this more efficiently and effectively.
I actually believe that this book is highly relevant for government, communities, not-for-profits, churches and other religious organisations – anyone who has an interest in deepening their understanding of the world we live in so that you can be more influential and relevant.
What You Don’t Know CAN Hurt You!
Ignorance of the law is no excuse, and ignorance of broader issues on a global level could be devastating. In addition to helping you understand where you are at as an individual, and where your immediate associates stand, Values and the Evolution of Consciousness helps you stand back and take an objective view of broader global and even intergalactic initiatives.
Dr. James joins the dots on some highly secret scientific and economic experiments and points the way to further avenues of exploration. Once you start following some of the trails she uncovers you will probably be as startled as I was at the weight of evidence of global collusion and manipulation and its implications for our lives.
I don’t know about you, but I want to be aware of what is going on in the wider world so that I can respond appropriately. This is not a book of conspiracy theories, but it does reveal many issues that you are unlikely hear about on the nightly news, or in mainstream publications whose goal is to keep us comfortably ignorant, and focused on non-issues.
Three Reasons to Read this Book?
- To understand what makes people tick (especially the people you love and interact with regularly);
- To gain greater insight into macro-economic and political trends at a global level;
- Because insight into people and the world helps you see and take advantage of opportunities for influence and profit on a wider scale.
If any of these elements seem important to you, I strongly encourage you to read this book carefully. If reading a large book carefully seems like too much work, then I guarantee that if you open it at almost any page you will find valuable food for thought.
