Attract More Leads and Close More Sales With Compelling Copy
The purpose of your website, brochures, flyers and other collateral is to attract more leads which will result in more sales. Is your marketing collateral doing that for your business? If not, the problem may be your sales copy.
“My website with updated copy by Debra Hilton went live on Tuesday. By Thursday I had had 3 enquiries – the first I’d ever received through the website – and they all turned into jobs. I had wondered what the real purpose of investing in a website was! Now I know that if you get the copy on your website right, sales follow.”

How often have you visited a website either through a direct link, or via search and wondered what set the company apart – or even what they did?
If you’re like most people, you’ve done this a lot – and you either end up with 20 pages open in your browser, or you pick the business that sounds closest to what you are looking for.
Maybe your website is like this too. If so, you are sacrificing the opportunity to attract leads and close sales though your website – and incidentally, wasting any money you spend on Google adwords or search engine optimisation. Because what’s the point of spending money buying traffic to come to website that is confusing or boring?
So … how do you make your business stand out and attract more leads through your website?
You start by telling prospects exactly what you do for your customers … and believe me, that will put you in the top 5% of businesses in the online space.
Then you show prospects how you can make their lives better – in ways they may never have realised you could help.
You can capitalise on their interest by offering a Lead Magnet (report, CD, DVD or other gift) that adds value to your visitor’s experience and enables you to capture their contact details so that you can follow up with them later.
You can also create charismatic landing pages that pique their interest and drive them into action mode – whether that action is to purchase something, provide contact details or some other step you decided they should take to build your business.
What about offline media?
Copy is even more important in your postcards, brochures, printed reports, and flyers because you’ve invested a lot of money in getting them designed and printed so you really want them to work hard at promoting your business when you’re not around.
It almost makes me cry when I see some of the expensive printed materials that show up in my mailbox – with no offer, no call to action, and no clear message or reason to contact the business. The sheer waste of it all!
Online or offline, your copy is the first chance most of your prospects have to learn who you are and what you could do for them. Does your current copy do the job? Or does it need an overhaul?
I rarely talk to business owners who say they have more customers than they can handle – even thriving businesses are looking for more clients so they can grow.
