Do You Need a Professional Direct Response Copywriter?
Hi, I’m Debra Hilton, Professional Freelance Copywriter, and my mission is to help you attract high quality prospects, shorten your sales cycle and increase profits by telling your story.
You can build your business by creating a relationship of loyalty and trust between you and your customers and reach out to prospective clients all over the globe. You do this by creating a website that focuses on your readers’ needs and publishes valuable and informative content, by producing white papers and case studies, and other information products to present your services, and by publishing books and courses to establish your authority.
Publishing is Crucial
These days, it’s more important than ever to differentiate your service business from competitors and build relationships with your customers – people and businesses all over the world are tired of being numbers on a spreadsheet, or faceless blobs and are looking for personal service and relationships in all their dealings. They are abandoning large ‘catch-all suppliers’ and looking at more than just price. ‘Boutique agencies’ are flourishing in many industries from Real Estate and Fashion to Education and Health Care.
Your prospects want to know that you are an authority in your field, and that you want to help them succeed – whatever success means for your clients.
Content Develops Trust and Trust Builds Relationships
A copywriter helps you develop relationships with clients you may never meet. The content you publish online and off-line establishes your reputation and helps you communicate with them and provide outstanding value. Social Media has it’s dangers, but it is also an unparalleled opportunity to reach out and be seen. Emails, case studies, information materials, blogs and websites are all opportunities to establish authority and to project your unique persona to potential clients.
Connections Drive Growth
I spent most of the past 20 years living in rural Africa, educating my children at home, and working with local women to improve their families’ health and future prospects. My husband is a food security specialist and our experiences working with farmers and their families to grow sufficient food, feed their family and store or market the excess has shaped my view of the importance of connections.
You may not be trying to compete with every other farmer to sell your pineapples to an impoverished community, but the same principle applies to your business – not only do you need to stand out from all other sellers, but you also need to connect with other markets if you want to build your business. Just as our pineapple sellers saw a tremendous jump in their profit margin by transporting pineapples to other towns with fewer pineapples and more cash, so your business will profit tremendously by reaching out to distant and different markets.
Of course, you can’t just do that once. Both product and service businesses need to be constantly reaching out and nurturing their current clients, as well as attracting new ones, and that’s where written communication comes in.
Details Make a Difference:
The details are the key to success. It’s the details that offend people, the details that entice them, and the details that persuade them to take action. Over the years, I’ve become skilled at finding the important details to focus on – the ones that produce results – and persevering until I find the way to communicate those effectively. It’s the details that make you choose one service over another, and the details which distinguish your business from any other one.
As you answer questions about your product or service – even the tiny, seemingly insignificant ones – you build a relationship with your prospect and create trust. After all, a company that can answer all my questions has to be a great company to do business with.
My goal as a copywriter is to ask the questions your prospect wants answers to – and to present those answers in a way that showcases your competence and professionalism.
Forget About Boring:
Have you ever looked at websites and wondered what service or product they actually offer? Or read case studies that were so tedious that your eyes glazed over, and you couldn’t finish them? They don’t do much for business, and you won’t get them from me. I love digging for the details, and then presenting them with flair, so that your prospect is desperate to learn more, and can’t wait to work with you.
If you need:
- Memorable Articles, Case Studies, White Papers and other information materials which will hold interest and generate leads;
- Fascinating Web Copy, Sales Copy and Auto-responders that will let your prospects know they have stumbled on the perfect solution to their problems.
I specialize in writing web copy, and lead generation materials (autoresponders, white papers and case studies) and can communicate all the ways your business stands out from its competitors so effectively that qualified prospects will find you and line up to do business with you.
Direct Response Copywriting:
It’s funny where careers begin … as I mentioned I’ve spent most of my adult life working in rural Africa, teaching, and raising a family. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about people, about different cultures, and about myself. And, of course, I’ve written – constantly… that’s how I discovered direct response copywriting.
I wanted to use my writing skills:-
- To make a difference in the world!
- To attract donations to worthy causes!
- To help businesses grow so that they could give back to their communities!
So I studied the art of persuasion and dug deep into effective writers and speakers of the past. I studied psychology so I could understand what motivates people to change their behaviour. I studied copywriting masters, read book and took courses. 10,000 hours of practice and application later I certainly don’t know all there is to know, but I know more than most people about direct response copywriting – and I’m still learning, even as businesses reap the results of my work.
Research and Problem Solving:
Study, research, and writing have played an important part in my life, and the skills I have learned can help your business grow. Nothing focuses the mind on solving a problem like knowing that a solution could save lives if only people knew about it (helping poor families provide nutritional needs with local resources, and treat malnutrition and diarrhoea). I have learned 4 foreign languages, and studied more history, literature, math and science than I ever learned at school while educating my own children, and helping others. You can rely on me to discover what sets your services apart from the competition, what makes your target market tick, and to write copy that attracts and engages them, and compels them to take action.
Skills & Practice:
As a life-long learner I’m studying and experimenting with the latest copywriting and marketing trends so that you don’t need to. You just benefit from my expertise. Technology changes, but people don’t. they will always spend money on products and services which improve their lives. Let me put my skills at your service, to make the world a better place to live.
When you hire me, you don’t just get my writing skills – you also benefit from the power of my network of direct response copywriters with whom I gather for peer review sessions where we critique each others concepts and copy.
Hit the Target:
One of my favourite sports is foil fencing – it’s a lot like copywriting really. You hone your skills through diligent practice, and then you get out on the piste, looking for the opening in your opponent’s game, ready to strike when the opportunity presents. It’s fast, requires good observation skills and quick reflexes. Getting your business message out is a lot like that – you need to know the audience and be ready to spot the opening and hit the target with the message they need to hear, in a manner they will respond to.
Copywriting can help your business grow, so contact me and we’ll talk about how to make your business more visible, and increase your leads and sales, but before I close I’d like to share one more story about the power of making connections:-
There are lots of reasons why many rural Africans are poor – but a major reason is that there isn’t much money around to buy things and transport is expensive and unreliable. But there is one African village where the level of malnutrition diminished and the level of education rose because of a creative intervention – a young man facilitated a partnership between a US school of design and some local African women to produce high-quality jewellery from unusual materials and then to sell them in the US. These women had access to skills and raw materials, but they needed designs tailored for a higher value market, and they needed access to that market. As a result of the continuing partnership many lives were dramatically improved – in Africa and in the US.
I believe that business growth is the best driver of prosperity and inhibitor of poverty, both on local and global levels. So I’m obsessively preoccupied with serving your business and helping it grow. If you’re as interested as I am in attracting high quality prospects, shortening your sales cycle, and making every $1 spent on marketing do the work of $2 then we should talk!
